Visit Nelson!
Nelson, our giant wooden Sasquatch, was built onsite during the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse. His forever home is located at the Main Gate of the Fairgrounds (open all day) and is handicap accessible for everyone to view!
Here are some cool facts about Nelson:
- He is 18’ across from shoulder to shoulder.
- He’s 27’ tall.
- His foot size is 7’, that’s a shoe size of 98!
- 300’ of treated 2’x4’ were used to build him.
- There were 5,000′ board of poplar wood used in the construction.
- The head alone weighs between 600-700 pounds.
- The tractor and plow were incorporated because of Mercer County’s strong Ag background.

By entering the Mercer County Fairgrounds, Inc., you are entering an area where photography, audio, and video recording may occur. Your entry and presence on the event premises constitute your consent to be photographed, filmed, and/or otherwise recorded and to the release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction of any and all recorded media of your appearance, voice, and name for any purpose whatsoever in perpetuity in connection with the Mercer County Fairgrounds. Inc. and its initiatives, including, by way of example only, use on websites, in social media, news, and advertising.
By entering the event premises, you waive and release any claims you may have related to the use of recorded media of you at the event, including, without limitation, any right to inspect or approve the photo, video, or audio recording of you, any claims for invasion of privacy, violation of the right of publicity, defamation, and copyright infringement or any fees for the use of such record media.
You understand that all photography, filming, and/or recording rely on this consent. If you disagree, please do not enter the event premises.
NO COSTUMES OR COSPLAY ATTIRE
For the safety and comfort of all guests, costumes, cosplay, character attire, full-face masks, and clothing or accessories that may obscure a person’s identity are not permitted on the Fairgrounds unless specifically authorized by the Mercer County Fair. Attire that could reasonably be mistaken for official staff, security, law enforcement, emergency personnel, mascots, or event performers is also prohibited. The Mercer County Fair reserves the right to determine whether attire is appropriate and may deny admission or require modification of attire that is deemed disruptive, unsafe, offensive, or inconsistent with Fair operations.
Additional information regarding the Year End Financial Report is available upon request. Those seeking public records must submit a request in writing and will be charged only the actual cost of making copies and mailing costs, if applicable. If the records need to be researched or reviewed, you will be sent a written response and/or the records in no more than 10 business days.
